Oxbow World Longboard Tour 2009 Final: The Maldives

After the spectacular success of the 1st event of the World Longboard Tour in Tahara, Japan, Oxbow welcomes you to the Indian Ocean and the mythical surf spot of Pasta Point on Chaaya Island in the Maldives for the 2nd and final event of the 2009 Oxbow World Longboard Tour.

Eager to discover new and exciting locations for its events, Oxbow will explore the fragile beauty of Chaaya Island and Pasta Point’s perfect lefthanders. This is a wonderful destination with stunning surf, but it is also threatened to extinction by global warming and sea level rise. Together with the Surfrider Foundation, Oxbow has always expressed a strong commitment to raising society’s awareness to pressing environmental issues. These are crucial values in the water sports culture.

Follow the competition as the world’s greatest longboarders perform on the excellent Maldivian waves. Antoine Delpero, Duane de Soto, Ben Skinner, Eduardo Bage and Matthew Moir will do their best to surf with passion, style and flow, and make you proud to wear Oxbow’s colours. But there can only be one winner, so the battle will be fierce.

The 2009 Oxbow World Longboard Tour Champion will be crowned with the beautiful ‘Tradition Trophy’, specially designed by outstanding Bordeaux artist, Oscar K.
